Andy’s Biography:
“Andy Silvers grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. Since his early teenage years, Andy has expressed a passion for photography. He was always taking pictures, but never had the money for developing the film. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Virginia Tech, majoring in Art with a concentration in graphic design. For 17 years he has worked as a professional designer, which has allowed him to perfect his retouching and composite skills. His background in art has helped him develop a keen eye for imagery. ”I’ve always been image-oriented,” Andy admits. When he was in the market for a new digital camera about eight years ago, he was pleased to discover that there were finally more affordable DSLR options. After purchasing a D100, Andy became fascinated with the opportunities digital photography offered him. The instant gratification of digital pictures and the decreased film and development expenses allowed him to hone his art and really discover his passion. For several years, he focused on landscape and infrared shots, but people have always been the most interesting subjects for him. As he worked on design projects to pay the bills, Andy’s position as art director helped motivate him to invest in some lighting and start photographing people. The experience of being on set, both acting as art director and observing, gave him a point of reference for setting and placing lighting. His first experience was positive, and so he built from that. He has put a lot of time into lighting experimentation and modification. Currently Andy is employed by a marketing company in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was hired as a designer, but soon took over table-top and corporate photo responsibilities. One year ago, Andy transitioned from designer to company photographer – a position they created especially for him. His art, design and advertising backgrounds, combined with a healthy dose of creative drive, have been the key elements in the development of his style. Andy shoots a diverse range of subjects and concepts, in a variety of situations – from corporate events to studio shoots. It is his editing aesthetic that ultimately ties his work together. “I want people to see what I do and, regardless of the subject matter, the look will be easily recognizable,” says Andy of his work.”

What three words best describes your photography?
viVID liVE craVE
How long have you been a photographer?
2 years
Canon or Nikon?
c a n o n
Do you see a solid career for the bikini models?
yes
Do models try to play you for gimmees? If so, does it work?
rarely – but they do TRY. never works,… ok maybe once or twice before
BUT my attitude has changed about this business as i mature in the industry and become more ESTABLISHED. but hey, to each their own
d|b|g
Do you bring Hairstylist and Make up artist to your shoots?
i do have other artist available for the MODEL prior to SHOOTing, …for beautiful images to be PRODUCED – its definitely a TEAM effort. But when the shoot SESSION starts : no 1 is USUALLY on set but the MODEL and myself. (i’ve learned to be my own assistant;) ) i do this for the same reason a THERAPIST does, if we are in a A R T | therapy session – in order for it to be EFFECTIVE it must become PERSONAL and intimate at some point. this is how ART is birthed. i AIM for each session to be LIFE changing – and this is BEST ACHIEVED with limited DISTRACTIONS
. d|b|g

Have you ever fallen head-over-heals for a model?
no.. NOT YET. but hey, the night is still young
What is better Myspace or Facebook?
FACEbook… i’ve gotten so many referrals from that site, it’s wonderful. i believe it makes the Potential client feel more comfortable if they get to know the PHOTOG.
every1 wants to say, “Hey, i know a great photog.”. even if they dont know you personally , they can say it because they have you on their friends list
.. so yes, FACEbook is good for that. d|b|g
ModelMayhem.com or Paidmodels.com?
MODELmayhem.com DEFinitely.. (hmm maybe because ive never been to paidmodels.com).. ill get back to you on that one
Do you think photographers get a bad rap?
i don’t think its a BAD Rap, i think its a TRUE RAP. 90% of every model i work with has a HORROR STORY.. so i advice every PHOTOG to remember “you only get 1 CHANCE to make a fist impression”… D O N B G art|therapy session don’t get a BAD RAP at all
just fyi
Who is your favorite photographer?
hmmm good question. NO Favs.. but i have a list of those who INSPIRE me. T H Taylor Jaime Ibarra Philipe WinterWolf Studios Maya Guez donBG (i inspire myself sometimes)
Have you been able to travel alot?

Mario Brown Biography:
Mario Brown is a young, laid-back Latin photographer that was born and raised near the beach in Los Angeles. For personal reasons life currently has him in Salt Lake City but often travels throughout the US and gets back to LA often as he can. His inspiration comes from growing up in LA and traveling the world in search of different people, different cultures, different ideas, different faces and of course…beautiful women. haha. Fashion and style have always been an important way for him to express himself. Now this includes photography. As far as how he got started in photography the truth is that he bought my very first SLR camera in June 2008 after he was invited to go to a photoshoot and the photographer let me take a few pics of the models just for fun. His angles were good, his captures were tight and the models loved his style. At that point he knew he was on to something good. He had discovered a real talent he didn’t know he had in him. When he finally got his own camera he practiced with his friends and noticed that his skills were RAPIDLY getting better and better with each shoot. Pretty soon everybody wanted to shoot with him and his name was getting recognized all around town. Watch out because his skills are still getting better and better! This is EXCITING! His photography has become a true PASSION of his! He still considers his talent RAW and UNTAPPED! To this day he has never taken a photography class, photoshop course or even read the entire manual for his camera…haha. However, he has through hours upon hours of practicing with his camera found out what works for him and his models. His photography and style have EXPLODED all over! His pictures and beautiful models can be found all over the net and in published magazines. He feels lucky to have discovered this talent he didn’t know he had. His style is definitely CALIENTE, RAW, SEXY, SENSUAL and CLASSY. And this is only the beginning for Mario Brown.
An interview with Mario Brown
What three words best describes your photography? Caliente, Sexy, Sensual
How long have you been a photographer? I was born with the talent but didn’t discover it til just recently. Don’t hold it against me. My name is out there will all the big dogs that shoot SEXY already.
Canon or Nikon? Canons are sexier
Do you see a solid career for the bikini models? Sure! Some def have a good career and have what it takes
Do models try to play you for gimmees? If so, does it work? Yes they do and depending on how hot they are it definitely will work. haha
Do you bring Hairstylist and Make up artist to your shoots? Sometimes. I don’t worry too much about makeup and hair. I love a good MUA and hairstylist though…as long as they don’t take too long
Have you ever fallen head-over-heals for a model? Head-over-Heals…? ALL THE TIME! haha. Fall in Love…? Nooo
What is better Myspace or Facebook? Facebook. I don’t do Myspace at least not yet.
ModelMayhem.com or Paidmodels.com? MM
Do you think photographers get a bad rap? Definitely especially when you shoot sexy hotties all the time. haha
Who is your favorite photographer? Jose Luis is a stud but I try to have my own style different from anyone elses.
Have you been able to travel alot? Yes and I love shooting models from all over! Photogs should get out and experience different locations and models. Diversify.
Where do you think most models live? Models can be found in your backyard no matter where you live but a photographers dream is Los Angeles, NY, TX and Miami
What is the worst experience you can remember from a photoshoot? Just jealous boyfriends causing drama.
Mac or PC? Mac baby
What makes you different from the other photographers? I still have a lot to learn but I believe that anyone can take a picture of a beautiful woman but there is SO MUCH MORE than that. With each shoot my goal is to capture that split second of intense love, passion and emotion that each person possesses. JUST BECAUSE A PHOTOGRAPHER IS COOL AND HAS HOT MODELS IN THEIR PORT DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE A GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER. PLEASE DON’T BE CONFUSED! Look at the capture, the emotion, the angle, the lighting, the quality…Does the pic speak to you and tell you something? Does it make to wanna say DAMN?! Does the photographer use the same old location with the same old pose and just switch out the model? haha. “Stand here please.” haha. That’s kinda funny. Why would you want to have the same exact look in the same location as the rest of their models? I don’t understand.
Who is the most famous model you have shot with? I look for they girl next door and then try to make them famous. My pictures are flooding the net and the models I shoot are becoming famous.
Is there anything you want to express now that people should know about this business? Be unique. Bring out the best in a model by making them feel beautiful and comfortable. FInd new faces. Find new poses. Be a leader. Get out there and travel! Always look to improve your skills!

A picture is worth a thousand words is as cliché as it comes. But a photograph by Richard Franklin is sure to leave you speechless. In a visual society like the one in which we live, image is everything. Magazines, television, internet and all forms of media flood our psyche with images meant to dictate how we view beauty. But doesn’t beauty vary? Isn’t perfection in the imperfections? Mr. Franklin has some very unique opinions to these questions and more as they relate to the eye of the beholder. “I never see things as better or worse, just different. Likewise I have never known, seen, or searched for the ‘perfect woman,’” Franklin insists.
As a glamour photographer who is known for shooting women of color, Franklin is adamant that there is no one quality that a model should possess. “I don’t deal in absolutes,” he said. “The ability to turn up on time would be nice.”
Always willing to push himself and his subjects past the point of good and beyond greatness, he makes every attempt to try new and creative concepts that exceed even his own expectations.
No easy feat for a man born into English wealth. His family tree is a who’s who of influential people. Franklin has an aunt who revolutionized the science world with her DNA work, a father who was a successful investment banker, and his Polish mother has a Jewish heritage. Not bad for a self professed atheist with big dreams.
Dreams and inspirations all his own. Franklin is a self-taught photographer who seeks to honor his own unique vision of beauty and art. “However I frequently am impressed by a cleverly executed picture [that] I may come across and it inspires me to attempt to reproduce it with my own interpretation,” he said.
Interpretation is everything in an industry full of opinions. “I don’t see it as an industry and perhaps that’s the answer. In general I have a hard time taking the words glamour modeling seriously,” Franklin ascertains. “High fashion modeling is where the serious money is. Most glamour models and photographers make very little money although it’s a lot of fun.”
But with that fun is a business that must run. Franklin is entertaining a line of calendars and other novelty items that feature the beautiful models he photographs. “I would particularly like to come out with a coffee table book of my work,” he said. “I hope to shoot more Hispanic and perhaps Asian girls. I would like to base myself in Brazil for a while and do some great location shoots. I shall continue to strive towards improving my technique and the quality and range of my work.”
Although Franklin probably has some hardcore fans in men and women alike, there are those who see his work as degrading, offensive, and exploitive. “I don’t think taking a ‘sexy picture’ in general is remotely exploitive. Men are object-oriented and women like to display,” the lens man reasons. “You are dealing with basis genetic imperatives. However there are photographers who go for the lowest common denominator in a shot and I have no respect for that. I strive for that balance between sexy and classy.”
Knowing that part of his legacy will be photos of voluptuous women with mouths agape and bodies that desperate housewives would kill for, he remains firm in his commitment to showcasing the female form in the best possible light. He maintains, “I strive for excellence, work hard and try to give dignity to those who cross my path in life.”
